The air temperature is perfect outside. It is one of those days that when you go out in shorts and short sleeves where your skin feels absolutely delicious. I did my HIIT outdoors of course and it felt like I was flying. My energy levels seem to be going through the roof. I don’t know whether it’s because my time is divided down into fewer activities without having to drive into UCLA and do work there, or what, but I have a feeling that the super intense workouts are the biggest contributor.
I don’t think long steady state activity releases the same enzymes or hormones as doing the short bursts of intense activity. By the time I was finishing the 3rd 1 minute fast interval, I just could not run any more. I pushed really hard during the fast times and really love the feeling of flying I get when I’m fast. It reminded me of when I ran in the mornings in Germany. We lived near vineyards and orchards, which is where I did all my running. The uphills and downhills are like running intervals and on the downhills, I was definitely flying. I am really grateful that I can feel that way again.
That also reminds me of the conversation I had yesterday with a coach I have hired for business. As I was describing my business to him, I mentioned that I had just gotten back from the gym and was lifting the heaviest weights I ever lifted, including that in my 20s. He said that he had heard that when you get older, you’re supposed to slow down. But apparently that isn’t the case. I told him I didn’t get that memo. LOL.
I always enjoy watching big cats, these two were rubbing themselves all over this tree trunk. I have several funny pictures of them doing just that. As you can see, I also enjoy drawing and painting them.
My first tiger drawing, gouache on BFK Rives paper.
